Each week culminates in a Friday Art Show & Reception
Denise Wey is a working artist who has been teaching painting, drawing and ceramics for over
20 years privately and at the Mud Hut at As If, Forest Charter School and various other schools
in Nevada County. "I believe that all children are artists and their capacity to learn is huge! They
are already in touch with their creative nature. I set the stage; provide good materials, guidance
and keep the mood light & fun! With a little encouragement, they do the rest!"
Vicki Parker has taught 4th & 5 th grade students’ visual arts at Deer Creek School, Nevada
City for 14 years. She has also taught art for after school enrichment (2nd thru 8th), Charter
school (K thru 6th ) and (5th thru 8 th grade) elective art programs at Ready Springs
Elementary, Penn Valley. Responsibilities included developing all lesson plans, instructing
students and displaying student artwork. Vicki has also been a Set Designer for numerous
Nevada City School District Performing Arts programs. In July 2009 Vicki was the set designer
for “The Lion In Winter” which ran at The Center For the Arts, Grass Valley. Vicki has also been
the Standards Based Arts Workshops Coordinator for the Nevada City School District working
with TCAP coordinator and artists to present art workshops to NCSD teachers.
$200 per week includes supplies ($185 for Center for the Arts members)
