Charcoal is wonderfully suited to landscape —it can be bold and immediate, soft and atmospheric or rubbed and erased into something unexpected.

Explore the beauty and expressive possibilities of landscape through charcoal. Over four weeks, we’ll investigate light, shadow, trees, water, reflections, distance and atmosphere through simple studies and playful mark-making. We’ll use layering, smudging and erasing to create landscapes that feel less like a reproduction and more like an experience of place.
