Drawing for Beginners - winter/spring 2026
4 weeks - $90
Monday Mornings from 9:30-11:30 AM PT


In these classes, we’ll be using pencil, pen and watercolor for much of this time. However, keep those
colored pencils sharp because you may just want to use them! The supply list is available upon request.

Session 1 - Jan 5, 12, 19 & 26 - Introduction to Pencil, Pen & Watercolor
Session 2 - Feb 2, 9, 16 & 23 - Let’s Slow Down - Meditative Drawing
Session 3 - Mar 2, 9, 16 & 23 - Florals and Drawing from Observation
Session 4 - Mar 30, Apr 6, 13 & 20 - Fun with Interior Perspective
Session 5 - Apr 27, May 4, 11 & 18 - Skill-Building - Simple Portraits for Fun

These Monday morning Drawing classes are always geared to beginners, though they are suitable for any skill level for those who want to refresh with the basics or for those who want to make drawing a consistent practice in their lives.

Drawing is every person’s birthright. And it’s easier to learn and more fun to do than some might think! We will cover much ground to help you get set (or continue ) on your drawing journey! Other mediums will be incorporated in some sessions, such as colored pencils or watercolor and pen, which expands one’s skills and can become a new favorite way of making art. It’s so great to cross-pollinate among mediums! Also, you can’t help but get more out of the classes by drawing on your own during the week.

Each four-week session has a slightly different focus. If you’re having fun and loving the class, then you might want to continue ongoing with them throughout the year. However, one session does not necessarily build upon another…so, jump in wherever you wish!

Lot’s to cover…practicing our strokes being the most important thing. Learning to let go of perfection & incorporate ‘mistakes’ into our drawings…this is why a pen is a good teacher. This will be a fun and useful month of classes!

Meditative Drawing

To get good lines, we practice slowing down and being present with the delightful activity of drawing. Watercolors, both over and under our pen work is introduced, creating even more delight. Essential drawing exercises, such as blind-contour, partial-peek and continuous line will be part of each class experience. Skill-building - Simple Portraits for Fun

Yes, drawing faces can be fun, especially if you’re not trying to be a perfectionist. Here, we make it easy on ourselves by not doing someone we know. Also, minimal lines and easy on the colors to hopefully pull off some graceful work!
